LINDA SUOLAHTI | VIOLIN
One of Finland’s most interesting solo violinists, Linda Suolahti, is seen as a significant trendsetter in Finnish art music, having impressed with her courage as an organizer of events and as an artistic director.
Currently based in Helsinki she enjoys a versatile career as a soloist, guest leader and chamber musician, regularly invited to play in some of the world’s leading music festivals and concert halls.
Linda is ready to jump into the role of chamber musician, concertmaster, soloist, host, and artistic and production leader. Themes related to equality in music and its development are particularly important to Linda; She founded the equality promoting Kokonainen/Musequal festival to Finland in 2016 and has piloted the multidisciplinary Caisa Classequal concert series in Helsinki.
Linda plays a Carlo Bergonzi violin from 1732 generously loaned from the Foundation of Signe and Ane Gyllenberg.

“Linda Suolahti represents the very qualities the Finnish art world needs right now. She is known above all as a violinist with rare expressive power, an exceptionally wide range, and strong leadership. Her interpretation of Helvi Leiviskä’s violin sonata is, to me, a remarkable cultural contribution. Suolahti brings to our attention a work that—like far too many of Leiviskä’s compositions—had slipped into obscurity. Her sensitive, precise, and vividly colored interpretation serves the piece beautifully and reminds us how essential it is to bring forgotten treasures of the past back into the light.”

“Linda Suolahti is one of the most energetic, creative and versatile representatives of the younger generation of musicians in Finland. Her curiosity and foresight as an inventor, combined with a healthy ambition, hunger and of course skills as an artist, are the strong and charismatic qualities that always influence and convince in her music making and projects.”

“Linda Suolahti is a gifted, experienced, and versatile violinist, and an important voice in Finland’s cultural landscape—both as a performer and as an artistic curator. She enriches the concert scene by highlighting forgotten works of historical composers as well as contemporary music by today’s creators. In my view, these are among the most vital and timely areas in our field, helping to move Finnish musical life forward by bringing new perspectives and new voices to the fore.”

”Suolahti is one of the most genuine genius and interesting musicians I know. She always invests 110% heart and soul into her playing, in a way that I very rarely hear in this world. Thanks to having an excellent technique in her playing, she manages to break down all barriers between her and the music, she simply purely IS the music she plays. In addition to being an amazing violinist, Suolahti also has amazing organisational and leading skills and is one of the best program creators I know of. She loves to try out new ideas and formats and locations and her sense of dramaturgy in concert programs is impeccable. ”
